New York Retreat

Architects Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown renovated a former tenant farmer's cottage in upstate New York, extended it with a screened porch, and furnished it to serve as their weekend retreat.

  1. This house is beautiful! It looks like such a relaxing place. I love the grey exterior, white wooden floors, and the fresh take on rustic style inside. And those lovely trees are making me miss the States (I'm from Ohio, and now living in Australia).

  2. Any way I could get a rough estimate of the floor plans?

  3. It gives a feel of the old country style rest house type of mood. But inside, the colors are really great that it still gives you a cold breezy feeling that you're still outside because of the green shades. There is this interior design college where I learned how important it was to make the home owner feel that he is experiencing inside his home what he usually experience outside.
